Instruction For Authors

Authors who submit their work to this Conference agree (if the papers are accepted) to the following terms:

IOP Conference Series uses author-supplied PDFs for all online and print publications. Authors must prepare their papers using Microsoft Word or LaTeX, according to the guidelines and templates provided, and then convert these files to PDF.

It is important to ensure that your publication is in its final form — has been thoroughly proof-read and ready for publication — when you submit your paper. IOP does not copy edit or reformat papers and will not send out author’s proof prior to publication. Post-publication changes are not permitted, so please ensure that your paper has been thoroughly checked for errors.

By submitting a paper, the author and all co-authors are assumed to agree with the terms of the IOP Proceedings Licence (as in Licence Terms and Conditions).

Do not submit your papers directly to IOP Publishing; please contact us for submission instructions.

Licence Terms and Conditions

By submitting the paper to the conference organizer, you, as copyright owner and author/representative of all the authors, grant a worldwide perpetual royalty-free exclusive licence to IOP Publishing Limited (IOP) to use the copyright in the paper for the full term of copyright in all ways otherwise restricted by copyright, including, but not limited to, the right to reproduce, distribute and communicate the article to the public under the terms of the Creative Commons Attribution (CC BY) licence ( any newer version of the licence) and to make any other use which IOP may choose world-wide, by all means, media and formats, whether known or unknown at the date of submission, to the conference organizer.

This licence does not transfer the copyright in the paper as submitted which therefore remains with the authors or their employer, as appropriate. Authors may not offer the paper to another publisher unless the article is withdrawn by the author(s) or rejected by IOP.

Once published, the paper may be reused in accordance with the terms of the applicable Creative Commons Attribution (CC BY) licence, including appropriate citation information (for electronic use best efforts must be made to include a link to the online abstract of the paper on IOPscience), a link to the Creative Commons Attribution (CC BY) licence, and indicating if any changes have been made to the original paper.

By granting this licence, the author warrants that the paper he/she is submitting is his/her original work, has not been published previously (other than in a research thesis or dissertation which fact has been notified to the conference organizer in writing), all named authors participated sufficiently in the conception and writing of the paper, have received a final version of the paper, agree to its submission and take responsibility for it, and the submission has been approved as necessary by the authorities at the establishment where the research was carried out.

By granting this licence, the author also warrants that he/she acts on behalf of, and with the knowledge of, all authors of the paper, that the paper does not infringe any third party rights, it contains nothing libellous, all factual statements are, to the best of the authors’ knowledge and belief, true or based on valid research conducted according to accepted norms, and all required permissions have been obtained.

Review Policies

Peer Review Process

All submitted full papers will be peer-reviewed. The acceptance will be granted if the recommendations from the reviewers are positive. The criteria are based on the technical contents, clarity and format. Authors should make sure the submitted papers use the template for this conference. There are three review processes: Initial Review, Peer Review and Recommendation.

Initial Review

The track director evaluates each manuscript in the submission track to determine if its topic and content is suitable for consideration for the colloquium before being reviewed. Manuscripts that do not meet minimum criteria are returned to the authors. This is in the best interest of the authors who could then decide to either correct the problems or to submit the manuscript to a more appropriate venue, avoiding delays from a lengthy review process that would nonetheless lead to rejection.

Peer Review

Manuscripts that pass the initial review by the Track Directors, will be sent to several referees based on their expertise. Each manuscript is reviewed by at least two referees. The referees are asked to evaluate the manuscript based on its originality, soundness of methodology, impact to design research, and relevance to design practices. To facilitate timely publication, referees are asked to complete their reviews and provide individual critiques within two weeks. After collecting the referees’ reports, the Track Director makes a recommendation on the acceptability of the manuscript.

Acceptance Decision

Based on the referees’ comments, the Track Director makes a final decision on the acceptability of the manuscript and communicates to the authors the decision, along with referees’ reports. The status reports to reviewers should identify the reviewers of each paper, the final decision can be “Accept Submission”, “Revisions Required”, or “Decline Submission.” The revised version should be submitted considering the review comments.

The authors should make sure that the manuscript pass a criterion of maximum 30 percent similarities to other publications.
